👉All equipment used in power wiring shall be of iron clad construction and wiring shall be of armoured cable or conduit type.
👉Wood work shall not be used for mounting of switch gear.
👉Looping of conductors and use of joints shall not be done.
👉Length of flexible conduit used for connections between terminal boxes of motor and starters, switches and motors shall not exceed 1.25m.
👉Every motor regardless of its size shall be provided with a switch fuse placed near it.
👉Motors also provided with suitable means of starting and stopping at convenient places.
👉Conduit should be preferably laid in covered trenches for safety.
👉Laying of cables must be in separate conduits for separate motors.
👉Minimum cross section of aluminium conductor used is 2.5mm2 and 1.25mm2 for copper.
👉Current rating of the cables for supply to motor based on normal full load current of motor.
👉But fuse rating should be of the rating of starting current.
👉For motors above capacity 12kw, having starting current lower than twice normal full load , fuse rating should be normal full load current.
👉For motors of capacity below 12kw which has high starting current, fuse rating should be able to withstand starting current.
👉Conduit used in wiring should be electrically continuous and connected to the frame of motor. Frame of the motor should be earthed.
👉Wire used for earthing shall be of copper or Galvanized iron. Cross-sectional area of the copper earthing wire should not be smaller than half of the largest current carrying conductor in wiring.
👉Consumer is required to provide his own earthing system with independent electrode.
👉While deciding the current rating of main switch , starting current of one motor which has highest current rating plus full load current of remaining motors shall be considered.
